 FAQs

  • Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on the body, known as acupuncture points, using thin needles. These points are believed to be connected to pathways called meridians, through which vital energy, or Qi, flows. By inserting needles into these points, acupuncture aims to restore the balance and flow of Qi, promoting healing and overall well-being. Additionally, acupuncture is thought to stimulate the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers, and to modulate the nervous system, influencing various physiological processes. Through these mechanisms, acupuncture can help alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and promote relaxation and healing.

  • Facial cosmetic acupuncture uses traditional acupuncture principles to promote rejuvenation and enhance the appearance of the face. Fine needles are strategically inserted into specific points on the face to stimulate blood circulation, collagen production, and muscle tone. This process helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin elasticity, and promote a more youthful and radiant complexion.

  • Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture (FCA) involves threading fine needles along the side of wrinkles or around scars. This technique helps break the adhesion between the epidermal layers, allowing the top layer to lift, thereby reducing the appearance of wrinkles or scars and improving skin elasticity.

  • The skin regenerates itself approximately every 27 days, so one cycle of treatment usually involves 4 sessions, ideally once a week. For longer-lasting results, it is recommended to complete at least two cycles (8 sessions).

  • Yes, Facial Cosmetic Acupuncture can be used alongside Botox treatments. FCA can enhance the effects of Botox and promote longer-lasting results by reducing muscle tension and encouraging relaxation. It’s advisable to wait at least 1 week after Botox before starting FCA treatments.

  • After a session, wrinkles or scars may appear raised, which is a positive sign that the healing process has begun. Your skin may have a glow but could also be slightly red due to increased circulation from the guasha, acupuncture, and massage.

  • Please avoid wearing makeup as it can interfere with the session. If you have a beard and wish to treat the lower half of your face, please shave beforehand. Make sure you’ve eaten and hydrated, as acupuncture can sometimes trigger dizziness.

  • Aftercare oil will be applied through facial massage. If you have sensitive skin or specific product preferences, please let us know. Using a jade roller, guasha, or other forms of cosmetic massage between treatments is recommended. Ensure you’ve eaten and hydrated, as acupuncture can sometimes trigger dizziness.

    • There is a small risk of bruising in the treated area.

    • Needling can trigger the immune system, potentially causing a cold sore outbreak. If you have medication for this, start taking it a week before treatment.

    • Avoid other cosmetic procedures during FCA sessions as they may interfere or cause side effects.

    • Contraindications include: pregnancy, vertigo, dizziness, severe high blood pressure, severe migraines or headaches, open sores or areas of inflammation, suspicious moles, freckles or spots, haemophilia, pacemakers, clients on Warfarin or strong blood-thinning medication, and keloid scars.

  • During your acupuncture session, you will be comfortably positioned, and the acupuncturist will insert very thin needles into specific points on your body. You may feel a slight sensation when the needles are inserted, but it should not be painful. The needles will typically remain in place for 15-30 minutes while you relax.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours' notice to avoid any cancellation fees. Contact us via phone or email to make changes to your appointment.
